Child killed in Madera car accident

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities in the North Valley are investigating a fatal accident involving a child.

It happened in Madera on Rd. 21 between 7 Ave. and 8 Ave. around 2 p.m.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol say the child was in the roadway when the pickup hit it. The child was rushed to Children's Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver stopped and is being interviewed by investigators. At this time it is not known what led to the crash.
