Occupy Fresno arrests continue through weekend

Monday, November 14, 2011

The Occupy movement is much smaller in Downtown Fresno than in some other places, but protesters say they're taking their cause just as seriously.

Six people were arrested early Monday morning at Courthouse Park.

Fresno County deputies have been arresting protestors each night over the past week.

"I just think this is very important and we're not going anywhere. We're going to be here," demonstrator Georgia Williams said.

There was one confrontation between an Occupy Fresno protestor and deputies.

Occupiers say the protester was unfairly tackled by deputies, but the Sheriff's Department says the man was being uncooperative so deputies wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him.
