Madera County sheriff's deputies have arrested a North Fork man on child molestation charges.

Jose Burgos, 31, told investigators he got drunk Saturday night and then assaulted a child at a home in North Fork.

Investigators say he said he thought she was someone else. Burgos was arrested on suspicion of molesting a child under the age of 14.

NORTH FORK MAN ARRESTED FOR CHILD MOLESTATION

A 31-year old North Fork man is behind bars facing child molestation charges.

Sergeant Matt Mollet and Deputy Robert Blehm arrested Jose Burgos who called the Sheriff's Department shortly after 1:30 this afternoon, saying that he got drunk Saturday night and evidently assaulted a child at a home in North Fork. He said he thought she was someone else. He said he felt guilty about it and needed to speak with a deputy.

Deputies met with him at his home where he was taken into custody.

Jose Burgos remains behind bars at this hour booked on suspicion of molesting a child under the age of 14, and penetration of a foreign object. He currently remains jailed with bail set at $100,000
