Police have made an arrest in a suspicious death investigation in Downtown Fresno.

Arnold Mata is in jail Monday morning. Fresno Police say he confessed to killing a homeless man.

Authorities found the body of a 47-year-old man on the pavement of the promenade parking lot on R Street near Inyo in Downtown Fresno Monday night. Fresno Police say the victim was stabbed in his side with an ice pick.

Detectives say Mata admitted to stabbing the homeless man during an argument. Authorities say the two men were friends and knew each other for 10 years.
