Driver dead after Highway 140 crash

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A driver was killed and four others were injured in a crash just east of Merced.

The accident happened around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon on Highway 140 near Orchard.

CHP officers say a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 140 when it drifted onto the shoulder of the road.

The driver overcorrected and slammed head-on into a motorhome traveling east.

The driver of the motorhome was killed while the driver of the truck received minor injuries.

Three other people had to be taken to local hospitals.

The CHP is still investigating the crash and it isn't known if alcohol or drugs were involved.
