Violence hits the Fresno County town of Parlier

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the area of Newmark and Floral after a body was found in the road.

Deputies say it's unclear what happened to the victim, but they found several shell casings near his body and they say at this point there is no reason to investigate this death as anything but a homicide.

Just down the road, the sheriff's office investigated a shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

Authorities do not believe the shooting was related to the homicide that took place earlier.

The man was found in an orchard with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery.

At last report, the sheriff's office was waiting on a statement from the wounded male to proceed with the investigation.
