FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating a shooting in East Central Fresno. It happened at Winery and University just before 7 p.m. Sunday night.
Officers say two suspects approached a man in his mid twenties and started firing. The victim was hit multiple times. An ambulance rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center, where doctors say he is stable.
Investigators said the victim is a known auto thief and gang member. "I can tell you based on the nature of the shooting or the way our witnesses have explained what took place, the victim was in fact the intended target. This was not any type of random shooting," said Anthony Martinez with the Fresno Police Department.
Police say the victim is not cooperating with the investigation.
