Fresno mechanic dies after car falls on him

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are looking into a horrifying accident Wednesday afternoon at a Fresno auto sales business. It happened at Sonora Auto Sales on Blackstone near Voorman Avenue.

Authorities say a man died, after a green impala fell on top of him.

"It appears he was doing some kind of mechanical work underneath the car and it's possible the vehicle might have slipped off the jack at some point," Sgt. Timothy Hahn said. "Nobody observed it happen."

Police say the victim later died at the hospital. There is no word on his identity, but they believe he was an independent mechanic.
