FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A safe haven for Valley pets has an extra reason to celebrate this holiday.
The Animal Compassion Team, or ACT, hosted its first open house and holiday gala at the Sofia Adoption Center in Southeast Fresno.
Staff members gave tours of the facility and offered adoption specials throughout the day.
The Fresno Humane Solution bought the property in July and now leases it to ACT for $1 a year.
It's the first time the Animal Compassion Team has had its own facility.
Staff members say they're able to help twice as many animals now.
They have about 60 dogs and 60 cats still up for adoption and say they need more volunteers.
