Investigators searched the parking lot outside JC Penny for any clues left behind by a suspect that shot a 28-year-old man and then took off. Witnesses told police several men in a car were driving through the parking lot when a car grazed a woman.

"The vehicle brushed up against the female that was in the group. The male in the group yelled to the driver that basically he had just stuck his wife, and that is when the suspect jumped out of the car," said Lt. Mike Doyle, Fresno Police Department.

Police believe that is when the suspect shot the man in the foot and then pistol whipped him. The man was taking to a nearby hospital.

Police will look through surveillance video to get a better description of the suspects. Police say they have good reason to believe the suspects involved in this shooting are gang members.
