Man shot near Cedar and Shields in Central Fresno

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Fresno Police say a man in his 20's was shot near Cedar and Shields in Central Fresno around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Police have not identified the victim but he was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Police said they found him in the lobby of the Foster's Freeze, but police believe he was shot somewhere else.

Employees at the Foster's Freeze called 9-1-1 after the man came into the restaurant with gunshot wounds. Police are trying to figure out where he was shot, if he was shot in the parking lot, or inside one of the businesses.

"Right now we're just holding the crime scene until we try to ascertain what happened we're trying to contact people and businesses to see if they saw anything so that's where we are at this particular time," Phil Cooley with the Fresno Police Department said.

Witnesses at nearby businesses said they saw a group of teenagers disperse and take off on cars after they heard gunshots, but police have not confirmed any of the details.

Police detained two people but they have not made any arrests.

We'll keep give you more information as it becomes available.
