Tony Snow Loses Battle to Cancer

Former White House Press Secretary and FOX News host Tony Snow has died of colon cancer.

He was best known for serving for more than a year as White House Press Secretary for President George Bush but a decade earlier Snow worked as a speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush after a career in newspapers.

Snow hosted "Fox News Sunday" from 1996 to 2003 and later hosted his own radio show. In 2005 he was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent months of chemotherapy.

In May 2006 he returned to the White House this time as Press Secretary. After learning that his cancer had returned, Snow resigned but on his final day in September 2007. "I'll miss it, you know everybody talks about what a horrible job it is to greet the press, I love these briefings and I am really going to miss them," said Snow on September 12, 2007.

As Snow left the White House for the last time members of the President's staff gave him a rousing send off.

Today the current White House Press Secretary, Dana Perino took time to express her feelings about the loss of her friend and mentor saying, "We really learned a lot from him about how to treat our familes, how to put them first and also how to just live life everyday with gusto which is what he did."

Good Morning America Host Robin Roberts, a cancer survivor, spent time with Tony Snow during his final days as press secretary who shared this advice for his fellow cancer patients. "I tell people if you've got cancer don't hide it, people want to love you; let them."

Tony Snow is survived by his wife and three children.
