WASHINGTON (KFSN) -- Laughter may be the key to keeping the romance alive, according to First Lady Michelle Obama.
The first lady said that's what she and President Barack Obama do together and it seems to be working.
Their marriage, although tested throughout the years by political ambitions, is going on 19 years.
Mrs. Obama said at a White House luncheon that laughter is the best form of unity in a marriage.
She also believes having fun, not taking oneself too seriously and smiling are great ways to keep love alive.
She said it also helps that her husband is "very romantic."
As for Valentine's Day on Monday, the first lady said her husband can't got wrong by giving her jewelry.
Last year, the Obamas spent Valentine's Day at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland.
In 2009, their first year in the White House, they went home to Chicago and enjoyed a quiet dinner.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
