WASHINGTON -- Four people are dead and another is in a hospital after a boat capsized about seven miles east of Miami.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded about 1 a.m. Wednesday after a 911 call came in regarding the overturned boat, a recreational vessel.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Sabrina Laberdesque says 15 people had been on the boat, and 9 were clinging to the hull when crews arrived.
Laberdesque says one person was airlifted to a hospital, but she didn't have a condition report. She says the other people are in Coast Guard custody.
The Coast Guard says a police helicopter assisted in the search for possible survivors.
No further details were immediately available.
