Sarah Palin Sends Her Son to Iraq

Fresno, CA, USA (KFSN) -- Republican vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin has sent her son off to Iraq

The Alaska Governor delivered an official hail and farewell speech to soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division. One of the soldiers was Palin's 19-year-old son, Track, named after a favorite family sport.

Track Palin will provide security for his brigade's top officers while in Iraq. Palin spoke exclusively to ABC's Charles Gibson in her first interview since her nomination. Palin said she's ready, not just to be Vice President, but to be President. Palin also took a hard line stance on the Russian-Georgian conflict.

Gibson: "Wouldn't we have to go to war if Russia went into Georgia?"

Palin: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help."

Palin said the president should have the right to launch a pre-emptive strike against another country, if there is legitimate and enough intelligence that tells us that a strike is imminent.

Charlie Gibson's exclusive interview with Governor Palin continues Friday night on World News right after Action News Live at Five on ABC30.

Palin's interview will also be the focus of a special hour-long edition of 20/20 Friday night at 10 o'clock on ABC30.
