Amber Alert cancelled after father makes up abduction

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A statewide Amber Alert has been cancelled after two children were discovered safe with their mother.

The children's father reported the abduction when the car they were in was stolen according to Stockton Police.

The father's motive for lying about the kidnapping is unknown, Stockton Police said.

The father and a female companion both face the possibility of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
