Critics say Facebook is using smartphone apps to read your text message data and other personal information.

A Sunday Times report says Facebook can get your user location, contact lists and browser history and even transmit the info to third parties. The report also says sites like Flickr and YouTube do the same. Facebook admits to having access to text messages, but vows it does not read them.

KGO-TV San Francisco, CA contributed to this report.
