How could I incorporate my love of travel, storytelling, and languages, all into one job?

That's the question I asked myself in college while at UC Berkeley. And I quickly found myself working as an intern in the newsroom of two local TV stations. I knew immediately I'd found the right fit.

The fact that I never know where I'm going to be or who I'm going to talk to on any given work day, is exciting! I know this would drive a lot of people crazy! But that sense of adventure makes my job worth it.

My career and life goal was always to get back to the Bay Area, where I was born and raised. Being here has allowed me to see my friends and family and reconnect to an area that I love. I've reported for TV stations all over the country and have been fortunate enough to work overseas as well. Later in my career, I took a break from work to volunteer as a translator with an American medical group in Honduras. It was an amazing time and I ended up documenting the experience on a small video camera. The series that resulted won me an Edward R. Murrow Award.

I was also able to travel to South India after the 2004 tsunami. I followed a Berkeley woman as she helped those devastated from the tsunami, restart businesses and their lives. I was able to take time afterward to travel more extensively through India and visit friends and family. I'm also a two time winner of the South Asian Journalism Award and an Emmy nominee.

I've visited 20 countries and am trilingual. I'd love to learn even more languages if I can! When I'm not working I like to hike, surf, practice yoga, read, spend time with my husband, and enjoy life as much as possible.

Life is truly a gift. It's even better when you can share it with friends. I'd love to connect with you on Facebook.
