(KGO) -- Actress Ellen Page, best known as the pregnant teenager in the 2007 film "Juno," has revealed that she's gay.
The 26-year-old Canadian actress made the announcement in an emotional speech at a conference for the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in Las Vegas.
She told the audience, "I'm here today because I am gay."
The actress also said in her speech that she was "tired of hiding" and "lying by omission."
Page said she suffered for years because she was too scared to reveal her sexuality, telling the audience, "I'm standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain."
The conference was made up of counselors who work with teenagers who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual or queer.
Page received an Oscar nomination for her performance in "Juno." She also had major roles in "X-Men: The Last Stand" in 2006 and "Inception" in 2010.
