Rescue crews are responding Friday afternoon to a yacht carrying seven people, a dog, a cat and a snake that is taking on water in the San Francisco Bay near Berkeley, a Berkeley fire captain said.
According to Berkeley fire Capt. Gil Dong, Berkeley fire crews are assisting the U.S. Coast Guard on a call for help around 12:30 p.m. about 300 feet north of the Berkeley Pier to help rescue the assortment of people and animals on the 30- to 42-foot yacht.
Berkeley fire crews are waiting by the pier if anyone needs medical attention during the rescue.
