Major airlines impose peak travel surcharge

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

It doesn't exactly cost peanuts to fly these days. Major airlines are imposing peak travel surcharges almost every day this summer.

However, with preplanning you can dodge or at least decrease the charges you pay.

A survey by FareCompare.com shows the peak travel fee runs $30 most days of the week.

However, if you travel on a Tuesday or Wednesday, the surcharge drops to only $10 and if you travel on the low cost airlines, like Southwest, you can avoid surcharges altogether.
