MARION, NC (KGO) -- In North Carolina they are experiencing an event you probably only heard about from your grandfather. There is a gas war going on in the little city of Marion.
A new gas station, Murphy USA, set its price low a couple weeks back and keeps lowering it. The price is now, $3.19 and that is forcing other nearby gas stations to lower their price, but they've only gotten down to $3.39.
"Oh yeah, it's been crazy, you think this was a grocery store and it's about to snow or something," said Maleah Ramsey, a North Carolina resident.
Murphy USA says it's a way for the new business to be noticed in the community.
