Woman loses health benefits over Facebook pics

  

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A Canadian woman is fighting to have her medical benefits reinstated after her insurance company cut them after seeing pictures of her on Facebook.

Natalie Blanchard had been getting monthly benefits since last year when she was diagnosed with depression and went on sick leave from her job.

That ended when her insurance company investigated her Facebook profile and found a picture of her on vacation and another of her having fun at a birthday party.

The insurance company says she was clearly happy, not depressed like she was diagnosed, and therefore able to come back to work.

Blanchard says she was encouraged by her doctor to take small vacations.

The company remains unconvinced.
