German carrier Luftansa issued a warning today that 2009 could amount to heavy losses. This follows a similar warning from Cathay Pacific and Delta Airlines.

Travel attorney Al Anolik says airlines are trying to fill all of their seats, and they're offering good deals right now.

"They're starting to hit record lows when we're talking about $29 dollar fares, but they have to do something to stimulate air travel," says Anolik.

Anolik is advising people to buy an insurance protection policy when they book a flight with a carrier that's facing financial problems. He says a $300 fare protection costs about $12.
