OAKLAND, CA -- Dozens of protesters have gathered this afternoon at the downtown Oakland office of University of California President Mark Yudof.
The demonstrators are protesting a 32 percent student fee increase approved by the UC Board of Regents on Thursday.
As of 4:30 p.m., at least 20 protesters could be seen inside the building at 1111 Franklin St. meeting with UC administrators. About 20 more protesters had gathered outside.
Franklin Street was partially blocked between 11th and 12th streets, and the situation was being monitored by UC and Oakland police.
The action in Oakland came several hours after a planned noontime demonstration on the UC Berkeley campus to protest tactics used by police in response to the takeover of a campus building Friday.
