Hundreds Turn Out In S.F. For 'American Inventor'

Sunday, March 25, 2007

Hundreds of local inventors auditioned in San Francisco Sunday, vying for a spot on the reality TV show 'American Inventor.'

American Inventor's Nick Smith: "It's an overcast day, but hundreds have turned out in hopes of being the next 'American Inventor!'"

The ABC show is produced by the same people that gave singers the chance to compete on "American Idol."

If inventors make it onto the show, they'll be competing for a weekly prize of $50,000 dollars to do more work developing and refining their innovation.

All of those winners will then challenge each other for the $1 million dollar grand prize at the end of the year. Viewers will get the chance to vote each week for their favorites starting in June.
