Burke offering dance lessons at South Bay studio

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (KGO) -- If you're looking for a free activity for young people in the South Bay after school on Monday night, take them to a dance lesson at the Cheryl Burke Dance Studio in Mountain View.

"I'm going to be teaching a free 30 minute class to teens, a salsa group class and we're also having the cast of 'Forever Tango' as well perform that night," 'Dancing with the Stars' celebrity Cheryl Burke said.

Burke is offering the free lessons at the newly expanded studio, to kick-off an after school program.

"We're offering that program for teens after school so that that they can do any dance they want, hip hop, ballet, jazz. It's just something I've always had the opportunity as a teen. I think that's what made me realize my passion at such a young age," she said.

Burke's new teen dance program is a partnership with the Mountain View Police Activities League to keep kids out of trouble after school.
