Doctors are warning people to be on the lookout for signs of a contagious disease this fall.

It is not the flu, but loneliness. The study by a University of Chicago psychologist suggests that loneliness can spread from one person to another and even to people you do not have direct contact with.

The study says when you feel lonely, you have more negative interactions than non-lonely people.

The study is published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
