Oct. 27 (BCN) -- An unspecified number of people at a Macy's department store in San Francisco were experiencing "very mild respiratory distress" this afternoon, but would probably not be taken to the hospital, according to a dispatcher at the San Francisco Fire Department.
Emergency crews were sent to the store, located at 170 O'Farrell St., around 2 p.m. to investigate reports of a scent in the air that was making people sick.
A representative in the store's security office said the incident had not taken place inside the store.
The fire department dispatcher could not confirm whether the scent was coming from inside or outside of the store.
