New FasTrak Lanes Causing Confusion On Bay Bridge

Tuesday, September 04, 2007

A gift from transportation officials has turned into a bit of headache. Transportation officials gave FasTrak users some new lanes that have caused a lot of confusion with morning commute.

One driver backed his bus about 100 yards back on the freeway when he realized he was in the wrong lane. Caltrans officials are urging commuters to not do this.

The FasTrak lanes are now clumped together in the middle they are also over to the far right side; they are also longer, about a half mile before the toll plaza. The changes should make life easier for FasTrak users but if you do make a mistake and you find yourself in a FasTrak lane and you don't have a pass they say just please go on through. You will get a violation in the mail but if you apply of a FasTrak pass you won't have to pay the fine.

They expect the confusion to last for about a week, but they say things seem to be very smooth out here once things all get straightened out.
