Madeleine Albright visits S.F.

Thursday, January 24, 2008

Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will speak Friday night at a hotel in San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood about the challenges the country's next president faces.

Albright will also share her recommendations for the next president.

Her stop in San Francisco is part of a tour to promote her new book "Memo to the President Elect: How We Can Restore America's Reputation and Leadership," released earlier this month, according to Mary Dolan, a spokeswoman for the World Affairs Council of Northern California.

Jane Wales, the president and chief executive officer of the World Affairs Council of Northern California, will also speak at the event, according to the council.

Based in San Francisco, the World Affairs Council provides a forum for the open discussion of global affairs with heads of state, leading policymakers, corporate executives, scholars, authors and artists from around the world, according to the council.

Friday's event is scheduled to take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel, located at 650 Mason St.

The event is open to the public but seating is limited.
