Two prominent meteor showers will begin lighting up the night sky starting Monday.

For the next two weeks, weather permitting, you may be able to see flashes of light and shooting stars.

First comes the Taurid meteors -- sometimes called the "Halloween Fireballs" because they occur at this time each year.

Then comes the Leonid meteor shower which should produce about 15 visible shooting stars per hour.

The best viewing is well after midnight in areas free from city lights. Astronomers say the meteor showers will be active the entire month of November.
