The plan calls for a $1.5 billion hotel/casino resort at Point Molate, just north of the Richmond Bridge.

The project would be built on the 266 acre site of a former Navy fuel depot and an old winery.

Supporters say the casino will bring jobs and attract 20,000 people to the Richmond waterfront.

Opponents, though, are concerned about traffic, noise and air pollution -- tonight's hearing is on the environmental impact of the project and should last until 8 p.m. at Richmond's Memorial Auditorium.
