House fire in Bay Point hospitalizes three

BAY POINT, CA (KGO) -- A two-alarm fire burned at a home in unincorporated Bay Point on Monday night, injuring three people and displacing nine, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District battalion chief said.

The fire was reported at 11:33 p.m. in the 200 block of Madison Avenue, Battalion Chief Bill Walker said.

A second alarm was called because firefighters thought residents might still be inside the home, but when they arrived they found all nine residents outside, Walker said.

Three were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, Walker said. He did not know their conditions this morning.

The fire, which caused significant damage to the home, was extinguished within about half an hour, he said.

The cause of the blaze had not been determined as of this morning, Walker said.
