Christopher Stevens honored before Cal game

Christopher Stevens, the late ambassador to Libya and a Berkeley graduate, was honored before Saturday afternoon's Cal football game.

The 52-year-old was killed earlier this month in an attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya. Initial reports blamed the attack on an American-made anti-Muslim film. But further investigation revealed terrorists were behind Stevens' murder.

On Saturday Stevens was honored with a moment of silence before the Cal Bears played Arizona State.

At the game, university officials also announced that a memorial fund has been established in Stevens' name. Donations can be made through UC Berkeley's "Give to Cal" website at www.givetocal.berkeley.edu or mailed to the J. Christopher Stevens Memorial Fund c/o University Relations, 2080 Addiston St., University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720-4200.
