Body found in early morning Castro Valley fire

Alameda County fire officials said the body found inside a house during an early morning fire in Castro Valley this morning has been deemed suspicious in nature.

A one-alarm fire at a single-family residence in the 2400 block of San Carlos Avenue was reported to the Alameda County Fire Department at 12:15 a.m. and was brought under control within 20 minutes, fire officials said.

Firefighters found a body inside the home while fighting the blaze, according to fire officials.

Alameda County fire officials have not released information on the age, gender or identity of the person who died nor the cause of their death.

No other people were in the house when firefighters arrived at the scene and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The fatality remains under investigation by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alameda County Fire Department.
