The Oakland City Council is getting a brand new look. Three new councilmembers are being sworn into office today.

Two of them have never held elected office before: environmental advocate Dan Kalb of North Oakland, and affordable housing advocate Lynette Gibson McElhaney. McElhaney will replace council veteran Nancy Nadel in West Oakland. The third new member, Noel Gallo will replace veteran councilman Ignacio De La Fuente in the Fruitvale District.
