FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Two juveniles were arrested Sunday night after being seen walking away from a school that had silent alarms activated, Fairfield police said.
Officers responded to a silent alarm call at Grange Middle School at 9:50 p.m. As the three officers arrived at the scene, a second alarm was activated, police said.
Officers heard glass shatter as they approached the building, located at 1975 Blossom Ave., and spotted two suspects walking away from the school and a pursuit ensued, police said.
Officers chased the suspects south on Blossom Avenue before going over a fence onto Dustin Court. Additional responding officers cut off the suspects and were able to take them into custody.
During the chase, one of the suspects tossed an item, later recovered and identified as a loaded BB handgun, police said.
The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both from Fairfield, and were booked into Solano County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of burglary, vandalism, and resisting arrest, police said.
The 16-year-old suspect was on active probation and also booked for probation violation.
An investigation of the break-in revealed four classrooms had shattered windows. Stolen property from a classroom was also recovered after being discarded by the suspects during the foot chase.
