Closing arguments are scheduled to begin next week in the trial of a 79-year-old man charged with the decades-old slayings of four women with matching first and last initials in Northern California.

Joseph Naso, who is representing himself, rested his case on Friday in a Marin County courtroom. He had called five witnesses and did not put himself on the stand.

Prosecutors are scheduled to present their closing arguments on Wednesday. Naso is expected to follow on Friday.

Naso has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered the four women - all prostitutes with matching initials. His alleged victims have been identified as Roxene Roggasch, Carmen Colon, Pamela Parsons and Tracy Tafoya.

Judge Andrew Sweet warned Naso on Friday about having a snippy tone and pursuing irrelevant lines of questioning.
