PETALUMA, Calif. -- The FBI is on the case after officers discovered explosive devices inside a Petaluma home. For more than 24-hours agents and police searched a home on Quarry Road after two live bombs and two partially constructed devices were found there. That search ended Tuesday night.
Police went to the two-story home in the 900 block of Quarry Street around 5:30 p.m. Monday after a family member reported that 30-year-old Ismail Moylan was despondent and possibly in possession of a firearm, Lt. Tim Lyons said.
Three homes in the area were evacuated, and police closed Quarry Street.
One device was found at the home around 7 p.m. Monday and two others were found early this morning. One was determined not to be explosive.
The other two were disabled safely on site by the Sonoma County sheriff's bomb squad, Lyons said. Police also found a gun at the home.
Moylan gave himself up and was taken into custody.
The evacuated residents were allowed back into their homes early this morning, Lyons said.
Police alerted staff at Corona Creek Elementary School on nearby Hartman Lane about the search Tuesday morning as a precaution because Quarry Street is a route to the K-6 school, Lyons said.
However, Lyons said, "There was no threat to the school."
Moylan was booked into Sonoma County Jail for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and felony possession of a destructive device in public, a jail employee said.
He is being held on $1 million bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in Sonoma County Superior Court.
Officers say there is no current threat to the neighborhood.
