PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- The Palo Alto city council has decided to let voters decide whether the city should lift its long-standing ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.
Early this morning the council voted to put a measure on the November 2012 ballot asking voters to decide whether to legalize up to three dispensaries and allow the city to tax them. Those in favor of allowing the clubs argue that the tax revenue could give the city coffers a big boost. Opponents argue dispensaries could increase crime and provide addicts easy access to an illegal drug.
