HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (KGO) -- An experimental plane went down shortly after takeoff from the Half Moon Bay Airport and is still missing. Now there is an all-out search to find it.
The plane left the airport early Monday morning and 17 hours later, it is simply nowhere to be found.
The fixed wing aircraft is a single-engine Aeropro CZ A40. The tail number is: N72AH
The plane left Half Moon Bay Monday morning at 5:50 a.m. and was scheduled for a fuel stop in Apple Valley, California. Its final destination was scheduled for a regional airport in Tuscon, Arizona.
The plane came to the attention of authorities after it was reported missing by the pilot's wife. She became concerned when he didn't show up for the scheduled fuel stop. Officials in Arizona and Half Moon Bay have been looking for the plane, but so far have come up empty.
The aircraft seats two, but it wasn't immediately clear if he was traveling alone. The FAA has requested that all airports within a 50-mile radius be searched.
Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.
