Boy out of hospital, sketch released

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- An 11-year-old boy is out of the hospital and back home, a week and a half after he was stabbed on a Muni bus. It was his first trip on Muni alone. Police released a sketch of the man who stabbed the boy. ABC7 spoke to the boy Friday night at his home.

Now at home recovering from his injuries, 11-year-old Hatim Mansori says the sketch police released of his attacker is right on.

Hatim was released from San Francisco General Hospital, 10 days after a stranger attacked him on a Muni bus along the 49 Mission line.

"After three stops, which stopped at the Mission and 19th, he came up and stabbed me," said Hatim.

Hatim suffered major injuries to his stomach, liver and intestines.

"I wish of the picture, of this piece of paper, that it could talk and I want to ask him why he did that to my son," said Laila Elfazouzi, Hatim's mother.

Elfazouzi is single, raising three children in the Bay Area, with no job. In June, she was laid off from her guest services position at the Ritz-Carlton and has no health insurance. Her son's medical bills are expected to top $100,000.

Hatim's attacker is an African-American male, 6' tall, 180 pounds, and a possible transient with strong body odor. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, torn on the right side, a black knit cap, blue jeans and dark shoes.

"Hopefully people recognize who this guy is and I hope the police will ride the busy every day, from now on," said Abdul Mansori, Hatim's brother.

Hatim said he won't rest easy until the man who stabbed him is behind bars.

"I hope somebody recognizes him and reports him to the police before anybody else gets hurt. I don't want anyone to go through what I've been through. It's really hard and painful," said Hatim.

Hatim faces many months of recovery. His family is hoping to get permission from the American consulate so that a relative from Morocco can come here to help with Hatim's care.
