SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco is mourning the man who shaped much of the city's skyline and helped keep the Giants from moving to Florida.
Real-estate developer Walter Shorenstein died of natural causes Thursday afternoon at the age of 95.
Shorenstein made his fortune developing and owning major office buildings in San Francisco and Oakland that included the Bank of America building.
But his family says Shorenstein was proudest of brokering the deal to keep Giants in San Francisco back in 1992.
Friends and colleagues from the worlds of business, politics, philanthropy, academia, entertainment and professional sports will gather for a memorial service in his honor at 11a.m. on Monday, June 28 at Temple Emanuel in San Francisco.
