SAN FRANCISCO -- A new bicycle rental program is launching in San Francisco on Tuesday.
The launch of ParkWide Bike Rentals, which is launching five bike rental sites around the city, will be celebrated with an inaugural ride in Golden Gate Park with Mayor Ed Lee and other city officials.
Bike rentals will be available at two locations in Golden Gate Park -- in the Music Concourse and at the intersection of John F. Kennedy and Hagiwara Tea Garden drives -- as well as at Justin Herman Plaza, Fort Mason Center and Union Square Plaza.
Rentals will cost from $9 per hour for a regular bike up to $35 per hour for a four-person surrey, according to the company's website.
Dignitaries expected to attend Tuesday's launch event include Lee, Supervisor Eric Mar, Recreation and Park General Manger Phil Ginsburg and San Francisco Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Leah Shahum.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Music Concourse, where Lee and others will go for their first ride on the rental bikes.
