Board has six weeks to determine Mirkarimi's fate

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The fate of suspended San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi will be known within the next six weeks.

The San Francisco Ethics Commission revealed it will release its written report on the case on September 11. That means the board of supervisors has 30 days from that time to vote on whether they will remove him from office, or let him keep his job.

Earlier this month, the commission found Mirkarimi engaged in official misconduct for bruising his wife's arm on New Year's Eve. But they did not make any recommendation on his future.

Nine of the eleven supervisors would need to vote in favor of removing him from office.
