Bomb squad detonates grenade found in Golden Gate Park

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The "all-clear" has been given in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park after a hand grenade was found Thursday afternoon.

A police bomb squad detonated the explosive a couple hours after it was found.

A man using a metal detector to look for coins discovered what appeared to be an old military-grade explosive. He found it near Mallard Lake, which is near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and 25th Avenue.

No word on whether the grenade was actually a live explosive.
