SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco is commemorating the 79th anniversary of the opening of Alcatraz.
Six men who served as guards on the island attended Sunday's celebrations.
Several special presentations took place and postal service employees issued special commemorative postcards and stamps in the island's gift shop.
