SF's Museum of the African Diaspora celebrates anniversary

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A San Francisco museum that focuses on Africa's cultural impact on the world celebrated its eighth year with a celebrity gala.

More than 450 people packed the Palace Hotel Saturday night to celebrate the Museum of the African Diaspora's anniversary.

The $1,000 a plate dinner and awards ceremony featured guests such as former Mayor Willie Brown, award winning actress Alfre Woodard and actor Danny Glover.

Glover is a San Francisco native and spoke about the honor of receiving the Patron of Culture Award at Saturday night's event.

Besides his numerous acting credits, Glover is also a political activist and humanitarian.

The guests raised money to benefit the museum and its local education programs.
