NASA Ames Center celebrates moon landing

The NASA Ames research center in Mountain View threw a party Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing.

It took place on July 20th, 1969.

Moonfest 2009 celebrates NASA's accomplishments and showcases future explorations of the moon by the United States and other space agencies.

Families were invited to listen to guest speakers, enjoy live music and participate in hands-on activities and exhibits.

"Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the moon and I know also, what he said which most everyone knows, a small step for one man, a big leap for mankind," said 11-year-old Kaavya Jayram.

There were also other cool things like model rocket launches, robotics demonstrations and real moon rocks attendees could touch.
